If you don't believe art centres can be fun...check out The Lowry...

It is now 25 years since the painter LS Lowry died.

Built in tribute to the former rent-collector, you can visit 'The Lowry', at Salford Quays, near  Manchester.

This is a visual and performing arts centre. Constructed of stainless steel and glass facades, the building itself is a masterpiece, but inside you can go wild in ArtWorks, a playground for all ages. Here you can  learn how to draw, build sculptures, get 'locked' in a padded cell and swirl through invisible sound beams.
